A new month means a new set of hair care products to report. As you may or may not know, I vowed to take better care of my hair this year and I am on a mission to try out the best products of 2021- Length retention and moisture has been key for my healthy hair journey.
You may have read our recent blog post on breakage- a new holy grail product that arose from that was the tangle teezer brush. It has replaced my EZ Brush and all my detangling combs. I have always had issues with matted hair, especially at my roots, this brush just sorts that out for me. It truly detangles and smoothes my hair. I am not sure why I took me so long to try it, but sorry Denman, this is my new holy grail.
If you have read any of our blogs then you know we love refresher sprays over here. Gone are the days we add conditioner to a spray bottle filled with water.
This was the first product that I have tried from OYIN Handmade and my goodness am I in love.
This stuff is packed full of moisture and it smells like delicious berries. I have really enjoyed this spray especially when I have a mini twist installed. I use it daily to keep my hair moisturised so naturally it is now one of my holy grails.
I recently tried the Eden Bodyworks split-end deep conditioner and it is gorgeous. It is full, thick and creamy. I consider this to be a light protein treatment and you really get a lot for your money's worth.
It made my hair feel soft but strong. No hardness over here, I also noticed that I had less tiny broken hairs during my wash day. I will note that this has slip but it isn't one of my top 10's. I always recommend you properly detangle at your pre-poo stage with any deep conditioners.
This is a new favourite after comparing it to the Style Factor Edge Booster Gel Strong Hold Styling Gel. It had slip on application, give my hair amazing hold and shine for a jelly. My wash and go lasted the full 5 days and had a nice hold but softness to it. I can't wait to use this for a twist out!
I previously tried the Curls Dynasty Leave in conditioner a few months ago and I wasn't too moved by it. It could be my recent trim or new routine that has improved the health of my hair, I am not sure.
But I really loved this leave in smoothie. It isn't your typical thick Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk , it is lightweight and airy. Pairing it with a twist out was a disappointment for me personally. However, I have loved it as a base for my wash and go's.
The Camille Rose Natural Honey Leave In is THICK and she is always sold out. Endless to say, I was very excited to finally get my hands on it. I first used it as my only leave in conditioner and paired it with a twisting cream but I hated the results. My hair come out puffy and almost dry to the touch. Maybe it was because both this leave in and my twisting cream were both really high in humectants.
The second time I used it, I paired it with the Curls Dynasty Leave In smoothie and then added this on top- I did this for a mini twist.
It goes without saying that moisture was an understatement, my hair retained moisture for 2 weeks without the need for any refresher sprays.
This leave in is an excellent base for any protective style and wash and go especially when paired with an excellent gel. I cannot wait to use it for more applications.
On the topic of mini twists, I applied this pomade to the mini twist I just discussed above. I loved the shine and light hold it gave me. However, I already knew of the bat that the hold wouldn't last long with my hair texture.
So I tried it on my boyfriends course natural hair hair and the results were even better, the hold and shine lastly for over 1 week.
I definitely recommend it even though it wasn't enough to tame my hair personally.
