Consistency
The cream has a thick and clumpy consistency, similar to homemade whipped shea butter. While some may prefer this, I personally did not.
However, due to its water content, it spreads easily and maintains slip upon application. To achieve better results, I found it helpful first to mix the product in my hand to melt the butter together.
The cream has a strong smell of raw shea butter, which I found unpleasant.
Take Down
I experienced some issues while using this hair cream. Despite leaving it in my hair for a day and drying it with a Dyson for 30 minutes, my hair in parts still felt not fully dry due to the cream's oil & butter based formulation. In addition, some sections of my hair felt stuck in place, making it difficult to separate and fluff my hair during the takedown process. This resulted in more frizz than usual, and my hair did not look as defined or bouncy as it normally does. I did not notice any elongating effects as advertised.
Upon further inspection, I realized that the cream was sitting on top of my hair, similar to raw shea butter. This caused tiny flakes when separating my hair, which I have experienced before with shea butter-based creams. Despite styling my hair on soaking wet hair and using only a small amount of the cream, my hair felt slightly less soft, had no shine, and had a greyish colour due to the product sitting on top of it. The tiny white flakes were also visible on my black shirt.
Overall, I found the product to be good during styling but not so much during the takedown process. Despite trying it on both dry and wet hair, as well as on my husband's hair, I was disappointed with the results. I will be giving away my bottle to my family and returning to my usual hair products.
