Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter: The Key to Juicy, Defined Curls - A Review

Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter: The Key to Juicy, Defined Curls - A Review

In this blog post, I will share my thoughts on the Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter as it pertains to achieving a braid out hairstyle. This product is specifically designed for individuals with dry and brittle hair, and is particularly well-suited for those with type 4 hair textures. It was created by Shawn Moses, a black scientist who possesses a deep passion for hair care.

Kinky Tresses was founded by Shawn Moses, a black scientist who is passionate about hair care. Shawn has thick type 4 hair and, with her experience as a chemist, she created Kinky Tresses hair products. The collection of products is formulated for dry and brittle hair and is perfect for type 4 hair textures.

In this blog, I will be specifically reviewing their Hair Butter for a braid out. If you are interested in the entire collection, read this blog Kinky Tresses Review-Best Type 4 Natural Hair Products?

What we love

Hydrating & Moisturising

  • A little goes a long way. The ingredients are very nourishing and high quality!

Very defining & easy to use

  • Excellent for creating fluffy and bouncy curls and coils

Multi- Use Hair Hair Butter

  • Can be used as a daily styler, twisting cream and a base for wash and go's

Before styling

I started my styling routine on damp hair after using the TréLuxe Curl Renew & Restore Gentle Cleansing Rinse 8 oz. The Botanika Protein Treatment strengthened and repaired my damaged hair, making it less brittle and prone to breakage.

However, this treatment left my hair feeling hard, so I used MICHE Indulge Deep Conditioner to restore moisture. With this great foundation, my hair was ready for styling. I follow this routine for my hair every 6 months.

Consistency

The Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter has a slightly whipped and medium consistency. It appears thicker than it actually is due to being compacted in its packaging. However, the cream is very soft and creamy to the touch.

It strikes the perfect balance for thick and thin hair textures, as you can build the amount of product to suit your hair. I used a moderate amount per section, and this provided my hair with the best results for hold and moisture.

Formulation

The Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter is packed full of high-quality ingredients, such as amazing-smelling mango, coconut, argan oil, and aloe vera.

These ingredients don't weigh the hair down but provide great moisture, slip, and a base for an excellent twist or braid out. I have also used this butter as a base for a wash-and-go, and I had incredible moisture. You can read the blog here Kinky Tresses Review-Best Type 4 Natural Hair Products?

The Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter does not weigh the hair down or leave the hair feeling greasy and oily. I did not notice that my curls were elongated, but I had amazing definition and zero to no frizz before separating.

Styling

The styling process was a breeze. I sectioned my hair to make it more manageable, and with a moderate amount of Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter, I focused on the roots as this is a problem area for me. It tends to puff up very easily.

Then, I worked it to my end.

The Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter had no issues with defining my type 4 hair. It certainly was very beneficial that I also did a protein treatment, as my ends were coiling and twirling without effort.

I started with a braid out and began to twist towards the ends. I also used perm rods to define my ends further. This step ensures that my ends stay defined and last for 4+ days.

Take down

My hair felt moisturised and shiny and looked defined before taking down my twists. I had no flakes or product buildup around my ends, unlike with the Melanin Hair Cream. You can read the blog here Is the Melanin Haircare Twist Cream overhyped? A comparison to Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Butter Gel.

My frizz was tamed, and I had no flyaways. My hair looked juicy and was very bouncy. I didn’t experience any issues separating my hair for more volume.

My style lasted for four days. My day one hair was the most defined, and as the days went on, my hair became more frizzy due to the hot humidity and exercising. My roots remained tamed, and my hair was moisturized until the next wash day.

In Conclusion

I love the Kinky Tresses Coconut Mango Hair Butter because it is a high-quality product. It performs well in any style, whether that is a wash-and-go or twist-out. It defines and moisturises my hair.

I have mixed it with other products, and it never flakes. For the price, you get a lot of products, and a little goes a long way. I am also obsessed with the sweet aromatic smell of the mango butter.
